Psalm 100:2 Worship the LORD with gladness.
Do yiou worship the Lord with gladness? Be honest. When was the last time you enter into a worship service with gladness? If you are like most people, you often experience a lot of other emotions besides gladness when you gather with others for worship. Maybe things didn't go so well at home while getting ready for worship. Perhaps you had an awful week and you feel the burden of it all. Perhaps on the way to church you had problems with the car, children, or your spouse. Perhaps you are at odds with someone you know you will see in worhip. Regardless of the setting, there are many times we are in worship physically but not emotionally or mentally. And, the same scenario holds true for our personal times of worship. Duty often prevails, whether our hearts are in it or not.
So, how do we move from our not so glad attitude to a glad attitude in worship? I would suggest that we stop whatever fills our days and lives and pause long enough to reflect solely on the God we claim to love and serve. Consider the awesome power and majesty of God. Think about this great God of love who can and does love us. Think about it. God is holy. There is not any trace of sin in Him. God deals harshly with sin, even to the point of condemning all who reject him to an eternity in hell. BUT, God loves us so much that he personally provided a way out so that we wouldn't have to pay the price for our sins. God did something for us that we could never do. God forgives us for whatever we have done and totally forgets that we ever have done it. When you think about God and the fact that he chooses to invest his life in us, it makes everything else pale in comparison. We get to come to God and think about him instead all else that may be wrong in our lives. Worship the Lord with gladness? How can we not be glad when we think about Him and all he has, is doing, and shall do for us? Let the glory of His presence make your heart glad today.
