If you read my testimony, you already know, that from about the age of 14, I tried a little bit of everything. I rebelled against everything I was taught in church and tried to make it on my own. It was fun while it lasted. But as I grew older, and had a child of my own, I realized that I was WAY out of my realm! The realm that God had chosen for me. Unfortunately, when I did decide to turn back to God, I was told by my Bible study leader that "Once you've committed so many sins, there is no forgiveness." Well, that was it for me. I just quit! For about 13 years I quit. Of course, living with the knowledge that I was going to hell anyway, I did nothing to try to please God. Afterall, what did it matter.
This method of thinking, brought me spiritual death and almost physical death as well. That is when God stepped in. Not a preacher, not a teacher, but God. He spoke to me, and told me to "GET UP." I've been up since that day and I've been seeking God since that day. I've learned a great deal, and still learn more each day. The most important thing that I've learned is that there is forgiveness. There is mercy and there is grace for ALL.
Just yesterday, I had the opportunity to speak to a man who had been in prison for murder, almost all of his adult life. He was 43 years old. He was open and honest with me for some reason. He was desparate, could not find a job, could not get ahead, because of his past. I asked him if he talked to God. He hung his head and said "no...I haven't been living right." Probably, for the first time in his life, he heard the truth, which is "it doesn't matter." Talk to Him anyway. He'll forget your past and help you move into the future He has had planned for you all along. "Forget the past." I said to him and he left, hopefully, with HOPE for his future.
That is why I'm spending my time developing this website, writing for you. No matter what you have done, or what has been done to you, FORGET ABOUT IT. It is time to "GET UP."
Now, I know what you are thinking, and you don't have to go back to church just yet. Just start talking to God. Ask Him for the truth about yourself and for the truth about Him.
Phil 3:12-1412 Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. 13 Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. NIV
Who wrote that? Paul - the one who used to persecute Christians. He was forgiven.
