Isaiah 44:3 For I will pour water on the thirsty land, and streams on the dry ground; I will pour out my Spirit on your offspring, and my blessing on your descendants.
It's been raining for about 3 days now and much of Nashville and surrounding areas are under water. It's really rather frightening BUT it has given me the opportunity to slow down, stay at home, and think. Rather, I should say, to change my thinking.
It so easy throughout these challenging days to get caught up in the world and become stressed and discouraged. We think about God, and we think about Jesus, but it seems we forget about the promised Holy Spirit. We don't take the time to rest and renew our minds. We don't take time to listen. At times, it seems we don't even realize the very Spirit of God lives within us. Why do you suppose He went to such great lengths to pour out His spirit upon us? We were dry and thirsty. We were scattered and lost, in need of a shepherd. We were fallen and failing.
He kept His promise; the Spirit of God is here living upon and within us. We need to change our thinking; we need to listen and allow Him to lead, guide and direct our steps away from the dry, thirsty land of defeat and into crystal clear, refreshing pools of victory.
